A Top Photography Tip

Marc Silber shares his "biggest secret" when it comes to photography over at the Digital Photography School blog:
"Take your dang camera with you everywhere!"
I couldn't agree more! You just never know when a photo opp will show up. As an artist I see beauty in everything. If I could, I'd take pictures of anything and everything! A friend of mine pokes fun at me because as we were walking down the street one day, I stopped to take at least 10 pictures of random things...

"The Asian side of you is coming out!"

"You look like a tourist!"

Even if you don't consider yourself to be a "photographer", I still recommend carrying a camera with you at all times. Any pictures you take can always be edited in Photoshop or Picasa. Even if you don't know how to edit or fix photos, I'm sure you can find an artist friend to help you out! Or better yet, why not buy a book and teach yourself?

As a result of carrying my camera around everywhere I go, I was able to capture these phenomenal shots...

This photo was taken as my friend and I were driving over the Coronado Bridge...

I was in Borders bookstore doing work one day and liked how the light was coming in and creating these diagonal lines...

Last Halloween my boyfriend and I went to watch a local band play in a bar. This sign caught my eye...

Artist Success Tips From Marcus Parker

In the following video Marcus Parker, the founder of WeekendBooksTV.com, shares his success story and offers some great advice for artists on how to get more exposure...

I completely agree that now is the time for artists to establish a presence on the internet. The internet is growing by the minute. More and more people are doing searches on the internet. You can connect with these people and be discovered by the masses when you have a website, blog, or video on the web.

Photo of the Week: "Managing Change"

With inauguration day just three days away, it's only fitting that I share this photo with you.

Yes, 2009 is going to be full of changes and I look forward to all of these changes. How about you?

Although we may not always be aware of it, change is something that actually occurs on a daily basis. It's how we perceive and react to these changes that determines our quality of life.
"It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power." --Alan Cohen

Internet Marketing Tips From Blendstream.com

Listen to Studio 747 Radio on internet talk radioIn today's fast-paced world where people can discover your business just by doing a search on the internet, having a web presence is simply a must. However, as you may (or may not) know, simply creating a website isn't going to immediately attract people to your business.

Yesterday's BlogTalk Radio Show was full of useful tips to help you market your website on the internet. I interviewed the founders of Blendstream.com who shared their thoughts on internet marketing and how to do it effectively.

Download or listen to the whole show by visiting the Studio 747 BlogTalk page..

Here are some notes I jotted down from the interview:
  • How you treat your customers is very important because word-of-mouth marketing is powerful. It's very easy for people to share their experiences with your business online. One of the best things about word-of-mouth marketing is that it's free!
  • Define your target market, find out where those people hang out online, and make sure your website speaks to that target market.
  • Use social network marketing sites like Facebook and Twitter to connect with your target market.
These are just some of things we talked about, but if you're really serious about bringing in more traffic to your website, I do recommend listening to the whole show!
