What would we do without the internet? As I write this, I am sitting at my friend’s desk in her house on Moloka’i, a small island of Hawaii. If she didn’t have internet, I would probably be staring at the walls pondering the workings of the Universe just like Einstein or reading one of the many books that my friend has. Thank Goodness she has internet, though. It made me think about how any of us got by without it.
The best thing about the internet is that we now have become savvy shoppers. Just think, not too long ago we had to get in our cars and go somewhere or call around on the phone to do any shopping. Nowadays we can just shop from the comfort of our home - groceries, car insurance quotes, furniture - pretty much anything can be bought online today. We have so many choices of where to shop, and In a matter of a few clicks, we can find the best deal. As for businesses, they’re now forced to compete by price, offer exceptional customer service, or both.

My Top 3 Business Ideas For Artists and Photographers

Here are a few business ideas that I’ve come across:
1. Sell your art or photography to a greeting card or post card company. Visit a place that sells greeting cards and make note of the companies that print art or photo greeting cards. The company name can usually be found on the back of the card. Research the company online to find out what their submission guidelines are.
2. Set up an online shop on Etsy.com and sell your original artwork or photography directly to people. Etsy has become a very popular site for artists of all types to sell their creative works. The process of setting up a shop is pretty straight forward, but if you have any problems, there are many guides and tutorials that can be found by doing a web search.
3. Sell your art or photography at art fairs. There are plenty of art fairs going on across the country on a regular basis, so if you love to road trip, then this could be a fun option for you. You could sell your original works as well as prints. What I’ve noticed at art fairs is that people like to buy canvas prints because they’re much more affordable than buying original art or photography.
There are sites like Photo in Canvas that will turn your art or photos into canvas prints. All you have to do is upload your work to their site and voila! You have your art or photos reprinted in bulk to sell at art fairs.
On the Photo in Canvas site you can also edit or crop your photo after the photo is uploaded. They also offer a free editing and proofing service that can help get rid of red eye or blemishes. What I like about this company in particular is that they have free shipping on every order, plus they have a 10-year guarantee on their products. This is great for you because you can then pass on this guarantee to your customers. To visit their site, click here.
Hopefully these ideas will get the wheels spinning in your mind on how you can start making money with your art or photography. Do you have any business ideas that you would like to share for artists and photographers?
